How do you change a headlight bulb on a Volkswagen?
Procedure
- Pull the hood release under the hood and open the hood.
- Access the back of the headlight and remove the cap by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Reach inside the headlight and twist the light bulb counterclockwise.
- Remove the light bulb from the socket.
- Install the new light bulb on the socket.
How do you change a headlight on a 2014 VW Golf?
Turn the socket holder anti-clockwise to remove the bulb, and then pull the bulb out from the socket holder. Plug the new bulb into the socket holder, put it back inside the headlight in its original position, and then replace the cover. Gently replace the headlight unit and screw into place.
Can you change the headlight bulb on a Volkswagen CC?
If your CC has this type of bulb, we do not recommend that you attempt to change it yourself. When you change the headlight on your CC, it is important to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers because the oil from your fingertips will cause that part of the bulb to burn hotter, which significantly shortens the life of the bulb.
What kind of headlights does a VW have?
Some Volkswagens have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. These bulbs have a very high voltage that runs through them, even if the battery is disconnected. If your CC has this type of bulb, we do not recommend that you attempt to change it yourself.
When to change both headlight bulbs at the same time?
Headlights grow dimmer by up to 20% over time and eventually burn out – for this reason, we recommend changing your headlights in pairs. Changing both headlight bulbs on your CC at the same time will allow both bulbs to have the same intensity and prevent the new headlight bulb from appearing brighter than the bulb on the opposite side.
Is the HighBeam the same bulb as the headlight?
In some Volkswagens, the highbeam is the same bulb as the headlight and it is possible for the highbeam to work, but the headlight be burnt out even if they are the same bulb (and vise versa). Some Volkswagens have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights.
