Can a fuel pump turn on but not work?
If the fuel pump is not coming on, and the fuse and relay are good, then it may be possible that there is a problem with the pump or the fuel pump circuit. If it is not then there may be some sort of wiring issue before the fuel pump relay, perhaps a wiring issue or other problem with the ignition switch.
What can cause a fuel pump not to turn on?
If either due to a faulty crank sensor, or ecu, the crank sensor signal is not being read, the ignition and fuel pump systems will not power up. Also, a faulty ignition module can create the same issue. Check for signals from the crank sensor and other sensors.
Why does my Pontiac Firebird engine not start?
There are a lot of issues that can cause your Firebird to crank, but not start. The engine needs air, fuel, and a spark in order to run. It is highly likely that if the engine is cranking, but not starting that it has thrown an OBDII code.
What should I do if my fuel pump is not working?
Fuel Pump Testing – If the fuse is good and the circuit breaker is not tripped; then the engine is not getting fuel pressure. At this point many mechanics will open the rubber boot at the throttle body and; spray a small amount of starter fluid into the manifold; reinstall the boot and try to start the engine.
What does no Buzz mean on fuel pump?
Bad fuel pump (Pump should run for a few seconds when ignition key is turned to start; no buzz means no fuel delivery to the engine). Blown fuel pump relay (Relay is energized by (PCM) to route power to fuel pump when ignition is on).
What causes a car to not start with no gas?
Problem may be at wiring connector on top of fuel tank (hard to reach!). No gas in fuel tank (Check the fuel gauge, and keep in mind the gauge may not be reading accurately). Bad gas (Contaminated with water or too much alcohol or diesel fuel). If you just filled up with gas and now your car won’t start, suspect bad gas.
