I agree….it’s not worth the trouble of doing the cutting…a 5×7 is very similar to a 6×9…a 6×9 will go lower but they have similiar cone structures and both aren’t round…i’d only recommend cutting or an adapter if u wanted to make a fit for a component set of 6.5″ speakers. “LOL… uh…

but will 6×8’s fit without any adapter or modification? because i’ve been comparing some different pictures of 6×8’s and 5×7’s and they look like they have different mounting holes.. notice that 5×7’s have extra mounting holes on the sides..
