Jousting is when two knights, fully decked out in very heavy armor, charge at each other on horseback with big sticks called lances. And they do it all while trying to hit each other as hard as possible.

How does a jouster attach to his breast plate?
Ours do not use straps, rather they attach via a wedge bracket to the breastplate. Originally, Matthew was sliding a bar in between the lames of his breast plate, but our good jousting friend David Mesimer suggested a tractor bracket, which works quite well.
