In the Planning P, the leg of the “P” describes the initial stages of an incident, when personnel work to gain awareness of the situation and establish the organization for incident management.
What is the purpose of the planning meeting ICS?
The Planning Meeting provides the opportunity for the Command and General Staff to review ICS Form 215, and to support and approve the plan for the next operational period. The Operations Section Chief describes the amount and type of resources that will be needed to accomplish the plan.
Can the incident command system be used for planned events?
Be usable for routine or planned events such as conferences, as well as large and complex emergency incidents. Allow personnel from a variety of agencies to meld rapidly into a common management structure.
What is the planning section of the incident command system?
Planning Section: The Incident Command System Section responsible for the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of operational information related to the incident, and for the preparation and documentation of the Incident Action Plan.
What is the role of the incident commander?
Property conservation. The Incident Commander is responsible for minimizing damage to property while achieving the incident objectives. As incidents become more involved, the Incident Commander can activate additional General Staff sections (that is, Planning, Operations, Logistics, and/or Finance/Administration), as necessary.

INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM ICS POSITION: PLANNING SECTION CHIEF. REPORTS TO: INCIDENT COMMANDER POST ORDER. THE PLANNING SECTION CHIEF IS A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL STAFF AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COLLECTION, EVALUATION, DISSEMINATION, AND USE OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CRITICAL INCIDENT AND STATUS OF RESOURCES.
What happens in a formal incident planning process?
If the lead incident commander determines that formal incident planning is warranted, the command staff set initial incident goals (i.e., control objectives) and operational period objectives and the planning cycle process moves forward.
