The first time will be around 6-8 days after they are placed in the incubator. The first candling time will vary slightly based on the breed of eggs. Darker, brown eggs should be candled later than white eggs, as it is harder to see the early development against the dark shell.
Do you candle eggs before incubating?
You should candle your eggs before you even put them in the incubator. You probably won’t be able to see anything, let alone differentiate between good and bad eggs, but it will give you an indication of what an undeveloped egg looks like, which can be useful for comparison later.
