Which bushings should I get?
In general, the right skateboard bushings for each style comes down to:
- For street skating and technical tricks get cone/barrel-shaped or cone/cone-shaped bushings.
- For vert, bowl, and park skating get cone/barrel-shaped bushings.
- Longboards require softer bushings that allow for carving.
Are soft or hard bushings better?
Softer bushings are easier for your hanger to compress, and therefore it is easier to turn on softer bushings. Harder bushings result in stiffer turns. Importantly, how tight or loose you keep your bushings also effects your skateboard’s turn responsiveness. Harder bushings result in stiffer turns.
Are 90A bushings good?

Are bones hardcore bushings good?
The hard bushings from Bones are perfect. They definitely stiffened up the trucks and hold up to my ollies. If you want stiff trucks and/or need something heftier to put up with extra weight, these are perfect.
Do you need washers for bushings?
For a barrel and stepped bushing combo we’d suggest that you use flat washers beneath the boardside stepped bushings, and cupped or flat washers on the outer end of your roadside barrel bushings. Cupped washers will not work with stepped bushings.

A good pivot cup made from a strong, long-lasting material, made to precise tolerances, interacting with a well executed hanger pivot and baseplate, is essential to every longboard. Simply put, the pivot is the heart of how your board skates. Skimp on the pivot, and the rest of the truck will be wasted.

What bushings come with Independent Trucks?
To give you a feel for which durometer to go for, Independent Trucks come built with the Medium Orange 90A bushings. So go harder or softer than that depending on what you want.
What are double kingpin trucks good for?
double kingpin = smoothest response (extra fluid turning) Tightening or loosing this bolt compresses or de-compresses the bushing of the truck causing tighter or looser feel to the ride. The direction that the kingpin is mounted to the baseplate has a direct effect on the way the truck turns.
