The hollow to floor measurement is measured from the hollow of the neck, which is the dip between your collarbones, all the way to the floor with your bare feet together, standing straight.

Hollow-to-Hem Measurement (Length) Your hollow-to-hem measurement is determined by measuring from the center of your collarbone (hollow) to the bottom (hem) of your dress. We highly recommend that you have a formal wear professional perform this measurement.

Hollow to hem is the length from the depression or indentation at the base of the front of your neck to the edge of the hem on the skirt of the dress. You will often hear “hollow to hem” as a key measurement for dresses that are custom made, especially wedding gowns.

For example, if you are a size A10 and you plan to wear a floor length style (like the Blake), the Hollow to Hem for your dress would be 60 inches. You could measure from your hollow (the soft spot between your collarbones) down 60 inches to see how long the dress would be on you.

How is hem size measured?
The Shoulder to Hem measurement measures the total length of the garment from the shoulder down to the hem. This vertical measurement should be taken from the top of the shoulder (where the shoulder seam of a regular shirt would be) down to the hem of that particular design, which could be the knee, ankle, floor, etc.
