Which Colour is Piccadilly line?
The Piccadilly line is also one of the oldest, which is why it was also gifted with a primary colour – blue. The 1920s seems to be when the Piccadilly and Central made the switch, with Piccadilly taking over a mid-blue that would later shift to our current dark blue, and Central occupying the hearty red we have today.
Why is the Circle Line not a circle?
Why is it called the Circle line? The loop was referred to as the Inner Circle in Parliamentary papers as early as 1864, but the Circle line name was not used officially until 1936. It was circular, or more accurately, elliptical, until 2009.

When was the Inner Circle station built in London?
In 1882 the Metropolitan extended its line from Aldgate to a temporary station at Tower Hill and the District completed its line to Whitechapel. On 6 October 1884 the temporary station was replaced with a joint station and the inner circle was complete.
