Does voltage cause current?
Voltage causes current through a closed circuit, but through an inductor it is the change in current that causes a voltage. Obviously there is no current without voltage.
What does voltage do to current?
Voltage is the pressure from an electrical circuit’s power source that pushes charged electrons (current) through a conducting loop, enabling them to do work such as illuminating a light. Current returns to the power source.
How current is produced?
To produce an electric current, three things are needed: a supply of electric charges (electrons) which are free to flow, some form of push to move the charges through the circuit and a pathway to carry the charges. The flow of electricity can be likened to a flow of water through a pipe.
Can voltage flow without current?

Most homes in the United States have two hot wires and one neutral coming into them. Supplying a stated 240/120 volts. The actual voltage received is normally slightly less 230/115 volts. This type of power is commonly called single phased power. Most residential homes have this type of basic house wiring.
How is alternating current produced?
Alternating current is produced by electric generators that operate on Faraday’s Law of Induction, by which a changing magnetic field can induce an electric current in a conductor. Generators have rotating coils of wire that pass through magnetic fields as they turn.
What does a voltage determine?
Voltage is the measure of specific potential energy (potential energy per unit charge) between two locations. In layman’s terms, it is the measure of “push” available to motivate the charge. Voltage, as an expression of potential energy, is always relative between two locations, or points.
How is AC current generated?
AC is produced by using called an alternator. It is designed to produce alternating current. Inside of a magnetic field, a loop of wire is spun, from which induced current will flow along the wire.
