What should you not do with Monistat?
Some do’s and don’ts when using MONISTAT® products:
- Do not use tampons, douches, spermicides or other vaginal products.
- Do not rely on condoms or diaphragms for contraception and disease prevention, as they may be damaged and fail to prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Does spermicide cause yeast infections?
Vaginal spermicides can be messy to use. Some people have allergies to spermicides. Using spermicides may increase your risk of a bladder infection, yeast infection, or bacterial vaginosis.
Can Monistat stop you from getting pregnant?
No, having a yeast infection will not directly affect your chances of getting pregnant. But the itchiness and irritation a yeast infection causes probably won’t put you in the mood for intercourse. Yeast infections are caused by a common fungus called Candida.
Can you use lubricant with Monistat?
To make the vaginal suppository easier to insert, wet it with a small amount of warm water. You may also use a lubricating gel such as K-Y® Jelly, but do not use petroleum jelly (Vaseline®). Insert the medicated tampon into your vagina at bedtime.
Does the Monistat ovule dissolve?
The ovule will remain in place and dissolve to release the active ingredients without any messy residue. To apply the itch cream, squeeze a small amount from the tube onto a clean finger and gently apply to the vulva. The itch cream can be used twice daily for up to 7 days.
When should I stop using boric acid suppositories?
If you experience severe discomfort, discontinue use. See your healthcare provider if your symptoms persist even after ending treatment. You shouldn’t use boric acid suppositories if: you’re pregnant, as the ingredients are toxic to the developing fetus.
What are the side effects of spermicide?
Spermicide may increase the risk of urinary tract infections. Vaginal irritation — such as burning or itching or a rash — is the most common side effect of spermicide. Spermicide may also cause an allergic reaction. Spermicide may cause penile irritation or burning urination in your sexual partner.
Can I still get pregnant with a yeast infection?
You can still get pregnant when you have a yeast infection, however, some creams used to treat the infection may make it more difficult for the sperm to travel to the egg.
Can I use MONISTAT 1 day while pregnant?
Yes, you can use Monistat during pregnancy. Monistat is the brand name of the antifungal drug miconazole, which is commonly used to treat vaginal yeast infections.
How long does the Monistat 1 ovule stay in?
Monistat-1 is a single dose vaginal cream/tablet used to treat a vaginal yeast infection. The cream is designed to stay within the vagina to work without having to reapply every day for seven days.
